RATING 3/5

UV Filters are generally employed to reduce haziness and fogginess in photos. The cheapest in types of filters, it generally has little effect by absorbing UV rays without reducing the exposure compared to other types of filters such as neutral density filters which reduces light conditions hence you will not see much effect in most images. Most people use UV filters as a means to protect their lenses from scratches.

However UV filter can sometimes increase light flare from bright light sources like the Sun; Multicoated UV filters on the other hand, can dramatically reduce the chance of flare. Mulitcoated UV filters usually have a slight color tint (the usual are green, purple, yellow).
